We had an exceptional time at Kyoto Hagoromoya! We participated in the kimono photo shoot as a family of three (including our 3-year-old), which included both an indoor studio session and a 20-minute outdoor photo shoot. I cannot recommend them enough if you want a true, authentic Kyoto family experience.

From the very beginning, they reached out for our details to ensure the sizing was perfect for each of us. These are not cheap imitations—the kimonos are absolutely stunning and high quality.

When we arrived, the facility was perfect, and the air conditioning was a lifesaver in the heat! A dedicated team of three dressed and prepared us. The indoor photoshoot lasted about an hour after getting dressed, and the team was fantastic with our 3-year-old, who had a wonderful time.

The 20-minute outdoor photoshoot took place right in front of the studio—just long enough, as walking far in a full traditional kimono isn't ideal.

While this is a premium, top-tier experience rather than a budget option, the exceptional customer service and stunning photo quality make it worth every single penny. Go here if you are looking for an authentic, high-quality tradition to treasure; it’s far more than just a quick photo op. Esta fue la primera sesión fotográfica de mi vida y también la primera vez que dejé que alguien me maquillara y peinara… y me encantó. 🥹✨

Definitivamente fue una de las mejores partes de mi viaje a Japón. Son fotos que me van a hacer recordar para siempre mis 24 años y una etapa muy especial de mi vida.

Quedé encantada con todo. La persona que hace las fotos es súper amable y te va enseñando cómo posar durante la sesión, así que no necesitas tener experiencia ni llegar con una idea de qué hacer frente a la cámara.

Además, las fotos me las entregaron rapidísimo y la calidad me encantó.

We went in for the couples set initially, then a friend decided to join us on a separate booking immediately after ours, and the staff were able to accommodate us for an individual, couples and group shoots.
Staff were great, friendly, with very clear communication in advance of the shoot.
Satsuki spoke very good English and was able to expertly guide us throughout the entire photoshoot. The costumes were beautiful and the staff helped us with selecting and putting them on. Overall fantastic experience and I do recommend it.

Amazing experience! This is a place where professionalism truly meets genuine care and hospitality. We absolutely loved our anniversary photoshoot. The kimonos and makeup were beautiful, and the entire team was incredibly kind, attentive, and dedicated to making sure everything was perfect.

Our Hagoromoya kimono photoshoot was one of our favorite things we did during our two weeks in Japan!  We absolutely love our photos, and the entire process was so much fun!  Satsuki is a very talented photographer.  We had a group of 6 including 2 grandparents and 3 preteen/teen boys.  Getting dressed in the many layers of a beautiful kimono is an experience in itself.
